A millionaire discovers how a housekeeper protects her blind daughter and is shocked to uncover the truth.

The millionaire never imagined returning to his own mansion and finding his housekeeper defending his blind daughter, with more determination than his wife had ever shown.

Ethan Walker realized this as soon as he heard the loud voices coming from Lily's room.

It was a scorching October afternoon in Los Angeles. Ethan had just returned from a two-week business trip.

At 45 years old, he had built an real estate empire and lived in a villa in Beverly Hills.

But his success came at a price: he was home much less than he would have liked for his twelve-year-old daughter Lily, who had been blind since birth.

As he went up the stairs, he heard Megan, his wife of three years, arguing. But another voice responded: calm, firm, and protective.

—She needs to stop hiding in this room and learn to be independent — Megan said sharply—. She’s twelve, not three.

—Mrs. Megan —the second woman replied gently—, please speak more quietly.

She is scaring her. Lily needs love, not shouting.

Ethan peeked through the door. A woman in a blue cleaning uniform with her brown hair tied in a braid was between Megan and Lily, who was curled up on the bed hugging a teddy bear.

"You're just the housekeeper," Megan huffed. "You can't tell me how to raise my daughter."

The woman took a deep breath. "My name is Grace Miller. When I take care of a home, I also take care of everyone living in it."

Lily is doing her best. She needs patience.

"You're fired," Megan replied. "Pack your things."

Lily whimpered, and Grace immediately knelt beside her. "It's okay, sweetheart. I'm here."

Something tense happened in Ethan. When was the last time someone had shown such tenderness to his daughter? And when had he done it himself?

He gently knocked on the doorframe. —What's going on here?

Megan immediately pointed at Grace. —She crosses boundaries. She doesn't respect me.

Grace stood up, calm despite the accusation. —Mr. Walker, I only wanted to protect Lily from harsh words.

Ethan looked at his trembling daughter, then at Grace's firm and serene posture, and finally at Megan's contained anger.

—Grace, how long have you been working here?

—Six months, sir.

Ethan understood that, in just six months, Grace had become indispensable in Lily's life.
